RHA developed studies which have corroborated with the planning and management of water resources, part of the Action Plan for the National Operator of the Electric System since 2001. The projects that stand out are: Consistency and Reconstitution of the Natural Flows Series in the Uruguay River Basin – National Junction, Ijuí, Jacuí and Antas (2006), Consistency and Reconstitution of the Natural Flows Series in the Paranapanema River Basin (2003) and Consistency and Reconstitution of the Natural Flows Series in the Iguaçu River Basin (2003), the last two being carried out by the Institute of Technology for Development (LACTEC).
The aforementioned studies aimed at establishing a qualified and consistent hydrological database for all hydroelectric power stations, aiming to meet all the demands of hydropower modelling, with expected economic and operational benefits. The general objective of the Project developed by RHA was to provide series consisting of homogeneous natural flows, regarding the compatibility between the daily average data (updated until December 2005) and monthly data (from January 1931 to December 2005), so that they can be used in the studies of the electro-energetic and hydraulic operation of the national interconnected system.
The series of natural flows are of fundamental importance for the planning of the multiple uses of water resources, in particular, for the electric sector, for the planning, operation and expansion of the hydroelectric generating plant.
