New Project: Hydrological Study of the Alto Descoberto Basin
September 9, 2019RHA Engenharia started the study to determine the water availability of the Alto Descoberto basin region.
Increasing demand for water, resulting from population and economic growth in urban areas, combined with the water scarcity, induces an imbalance between the supply and demand of water. The lack of planning and infrastructure investments with the absence of actions by the responsible institutions, generate scenarios of water insecurity.
In the Alto Descoberto watershed, it was observed a large decrease in water flow rates in the last two years, due to the dry years with high temperatures and soil degradation (TNC, 2019). This situation brings the necessity to take actions in order to maintain water security.
